Auburn Municipal Civil Service
Special Meeting – 12/19/2002 Minutes
Chairman Welch called the meeting to order at 11:00am. Sec. Lee took the roll. Present was
Comm. Welch. Comm. Camardo and Comm. Brennan.
Approve the minutes of the meeting of December 12/5/2002
Motion to approve made by Comm. Brennan and seconded by Comm. Welch. Approved 3-0.
Old Business
Engineering
Custodian decentralized exam ordered for the City of Auburn to be held in spring 2003.
School
1.The residency requirement for the exam for School Safety Officer to be Auburn school district only. A memo requesting this residency received from the school District Asst. Supt. JD Pabis.
2. Written verification as to the exact months as a teacher’s aide is being requesting from Connie Gleason in order to reach a final decision as to whether she was eligible to have taken the promotional exam for clerk for the school district # 20-025. Comm. Welch stated the he will contact Ms. Gleason and also will send her a decision letter when verification is received. Motion made by Comm. Brennan and seconded by Comm. Welch that if Ms Gleason can document her month of service as a teacher’s aide she will be allowed to be on the promotional list for clerk for the school district. Motion carried 3-0. Statement on the clerk’s announcement #20-025 did not state that service needed to be consecutive nor with the Auburn School District.
New Business
Discussion held concerning the replacement for Arthur L. Lee as secretary to the Civil Service Commission. Comm. Camardo is requesting that applications and interviews take place in the selection process. Motion made by Comm. Camardo not seconded. Motion defeated 1-2. Comm. Brennan requests that the appointment be done at this meeting
Motion made by Comm. Welch to appoint William A. Fulton as new secretary to his Commission. Motion seconded by Comm. Brennan. Comm. Camardo votes not to appoint Mr. Fulton based on the fact that he is not familiar with Mr. Fulton and not aware of his qualifications, he is not voting against Mr. Fulton but rather against the process of his appointment
Motion carried 2-1. Effective December 30, 2002 William A. Fulton appointed secretary to this Commission.
Motion to adjourn made by Comm. Welch, seconded by Comm. Brennan. Meeting adjourned at 12:00pm.
